snow-henge.

Get it, it's funny because Stonehenge.

Some clever person took chunks of really frozen snow and stuck them in the average frozen snow and created Snow-henge. I thought it was funny so I took some pictures.

I wish I had done this. I love people.

The pictures aren't super great, but hopefully you get the idea.

Bonus: the Taylor building in the background. (As in John Taylor. The prophet of the Church who "came third, we know." I love this school.)

snow is good sometimes.

It snowed a lot yesterday. Snow is great because it makes it a little less cold. Snow is not so great because it covers up the massive sheets of ice so unsuspecting pedestrians biff it hard core on the way to class. (I'm not saying that happened to me, but......yeah it happened to me. It's a good thing I have no problem laughing at myself because it was hilarious.)

Since it wasn't as cold as usual, I didn't have to wear my huge coat today which made me happy.

Also, I had a large amount of time to sit in the library with nothing to do so I watched Psych: The Musical which turned out to be a good life choice - I don't think I got too many funny looks from my suppressed laughter. And even if I did get funny looks, those people were prolly just jealous and wishing they were watching Psych!

And one of my classes ended 30 minutes early because the fire alarm went off. I don't think there was an actual fire, so that's another happy thing that happened today.

So many things went right today. Most days are like that. I love when those simple things happen that remind you that your Heavenly Father loves you. "The power of God is plain to see, there are wonders on every hand." Big and small. Everywhere. Life is so happy.

first week.

It's my fourth semester here at BYU-Idaho in the frozen tundra that is Rexburg.

This very well could be the craziest semester of my life.

16 credits is a lot of credits and basically every single one of them is for my major.

I hope I don't get sick of talking about marriages and families by April.

You know what's awesome? The restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It's implemented into all of my classes in some way or another, and I love that. The gospel is constant and true and it's something I can always rely on no matter how stressed or frazzled I may be concerning everything else I'm learning about in school.

I've accepted the fact that I'm going to be spending a very large amount of time reading and that I really might live in the library some days.

I'm just a little overwhelmed.

But I've discovered this thing after the first week of school that comforts me: I'm going to learn something this semester! I've learned new things every semester, but this semester is no joke. I'm going to have to work really hard, but I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and He knows what I need to learn. He's the best study buddy ever. I know He's watching out for me and that with His help I will be able to make it through this semester of craziness. I'll learn things for my major, I'll learn things about the gospel, I'll learn things about myself, I'll learn how to balance my schoolwork and my calling and everything in between, and I'll learn to trust Him and rely on Him more.

So those are my thoughts about the semester so far.

my oh my x 2014

It's 2014! When did that happen!?

Just kidding, I know when it happened. I watched the ball drop and everything.

This year is gonna be awesome cause life is awesome, you see.

My mom started this thing in my family a few years ago where you pick a word for your year instead of making a bazillion resolutions that you aren't going to keep. Then you just have to remember one word and it ends up encompassing a whole bunch of things. How nifty!

Last year my word was LIFT. As in lifting and serving others.

I thought I could have done a better job at LIFTING last year so I decided to make this year's word RENEW.

Except English is boring.

And this is the year my best friend will spend 100% of his time serving the Lord while teaching the wonderful people of Germany the gospel. He inspires me. I kinda love him a lot. And German is awesome.

So my word for 2014 is ERNEUERN. (renew in German, pronounced air-noy-ern)

**and then when I got to this point I thought about the disney thing where Peter Pan says "here we go!" and it's like going into the new year with great enthusiasm so I posted the video to show the first 4 seconds but really the whole thing is great because disney is fantastic.**

Happy January, friends!

Schönen Rutsch! (German happy new year expression)
